So I got a ticket...

It's been a long time- not that there were actually many entries... With a new ambition, and a little spare time, I return non-triumphantly to the blogosphere. Oh, and I got a ticket.

I wasn't being crazy and riding fast, I just got complacent. I always wear my PPE, scan traffic, and have an escape route. But I have a new bike. It's smooth, quiet and a bit more powerful than my old f650. It's the new F800GS Adventure.

Complacency got me as I entered the freeway, early yesterday, and I was greeted by a friendly Virginia State Trooper named Mr. Sterling. He kindly told me that I was going 87 in a 55. I don't think his estimate of my speed was accurate as he didn't use a radar however I don't actually know how fast I was going so I'm looking at this as a friendly reminder to remember to re-add the speedometer to the things I scan as I ride down the road. It's easy to become complacent and that's something a rider should avoid.

I'm looking at this as a positive event. A reminder that troopers, like Mr. sterling, are here for our safety and encouragement to take some safety refresher courses. The addiction to riding motorcycle requires a safe rider to master many skills, most of which are perishable.
